The
family eatery, Fook Seng GoldenHill Chicken Rice, is the
creation of Master Chef Ronnie Chew since 1995.
As
a young man, he had ventured into several businesses; an
upholster as a teenager, a chef on a ship in his 20s, even
zipping around as a cabbie for a short period of time in
his 30s. With this rich life experience, also a lover of
many cuisines, Chef Ronnie also had an ambition, to have
a Chicken Rice business.
His
decision is based on his promise to one special person,
his father-in-law. In 1995, his then ailing father-in-law
was craving for good chicken rice. He said, “It’s
so difficult to find really good chicken rice these days.
They all taste the same”. Though not trained in any
topnotch culinary school, but as a filial son-in-law and
having the confidence of a good cook, he promised his father-in-law
that he would whip up simple yet delicious chicken rice
just for him.

Sadly,
his father-in-law passed on shortly. However, that unfulfilled
promised became an encouragement for Chef Ronnie. Later that year
in August, Chef Ronnie and his wife, Sally, decided to take business
into their own hands to offer chicken rice to the people. Since
then, it has always been a family business providing scrumptious
chicken rice and other delectable dishes to customers; from the
connoisseurs who travel as far as Hong Kong to our shop, to the
common folks whom they meet everyday.
Today,
we invite you to come partake our lip smacking chicken rice, the
tasty side dishes, and not forgetting the exceptional condiments,
such as our chilli sauce! Come enjoy the friendly service that
it almost feels like home. And to us, it IS just like home.
As
we always greet in the Chinese family, “Everyone, eat!”

dishes up for the poll were Chilli Crab, Char Kway Teow, Laksa
among others.
There

soy sauced chicken, roasted chicken, deep-fried chicken, the list
